Kelly Martincin, M.A. is a third year doctoral student in the Counseling Psychology specialization and a member of Cohort XXIV. She received her master's degree through CSU's Clinical Psychology program, and earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology and Ohio Dominican University. Kelly has been the recipient of several awards including the Drake Scholarship, the Patterson Scholarship, and a Student Recognition Award for outstanding effort and academic achievement. She is currently performing her practicum placement at Neurology and Neuroscience Associates in Akron, OH.

Kelly's research interests include the needs of the elderly population including individuals with dementia and their caregivers. She currently works on several research teams including Dr. Katherine Judge's team for Project ANSWERS, a strength based intervention for caregiving dyads of individuals with dementia, Dr. Graham Stead's team using meta-analysis to investigate the relationship between the Five Factor Model of personality and career indecisiveness, and Dr. Donna Schultheiss's team investigating the work and family interface of recent immigrant families.

Kelly also leads a team of fellow counseling psychology students performing a content analysis investigating the presence of elderly populations in counseling literature. She has published one article and presented 20 papers and posters at conferences.

Kelly also enjoys participating in professional service in many capacities. She is currently co-chair of the Student Affiliates of Seventeen Awards committee, where she works with other students from around the nation to provide scholarships and grants to support research and travel to conferences. She is also the regional coordinator for Student Affiliates of Seventeen, which is the student group of Counseling Psychology's professional organizations.

At CSU, she is the co-chair of the Counseling Psychology Doctoral Student Organization, which provides programming for support and aid to counseling psychology students. Of the many things she enjoys about CSU, Kelly is grateful for her program's emphasis on social justice. She states, "I believe the program's strong focus on social justice provides skills that go beyond clinical training and give us the foundation to make a lasting difference not only with our clients, but also within our communities."
