Congratulations!
Cleveland State University and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District have been selected to receive the 2011 Dr. Shirley S. Schwartz Urban Education Impact Award.
The Council of the Great City Colleges of Education, an affiliate group of deans working with urban school leaders, is presenting this award for the first time in the name of our dear, departed friend and colleague, Dr. Shirley S. Schwartz, the Council's Director of Special Projects and staff liaison with the colleges of education.
The award honors an outstanding partnership between a university and an urban school district that has had a positive and significant impact on student learning. As the winners, you both will receive a plaque honoring your significant contributions to urban education. In addition, your wining partnership can jointly select a student, who has graduated from Cleveland Metropolitan School District and either will attend or presently attends Cleveland State University to receive a two-year scholarship.
The award presentation will be held on Friday, October 28, 12:30 pm, during the luncheon at Westin Copley Place in Boston, MA in conjunction with the Council of the Great City Schools' Annual Fall Conference.
