Dean Roland V. Anglin Moderates Panel to Address Teacher Shortage Crisis in Northeast Ohio

Roland V. Anglin, PhD, Dean and Professor at the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education at Cleveland State University moderated a Regional Panel at the Northeast Ohio Regional Meeting for Stakeholders on the teacher shortage crisis, held on November 3,2022. The meeting was hosted by the University of Akron, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) and Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE).

The panel featured educational leaders within the Greater Cleveland community, and speakers discussed shared challenges brought on by the crisis and solutions in recruiting and retaining highly qualified and diverse teachers in the current environment.

* David Michael Toth, Ed.D, Superintendent, Crestwood Local Schools 
* Aireane Curtis, Superintendent, Windham Exempted Village Schools 
* Lisa Harris, Director of Operations, Warrensville Heights City School District  
 
The Levin College of Public Affairs and Education has been a leader in creating a diverse pipeline of strong teacher candidates committed to urban education through its Cleveland Teaching Fellowship. The Fellowship includes partnerships between the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD), Cleveland State University, and the Cleveland Foundation. This grant program engages highly qualified teacher candidates in PAID practicum and student teaching experiences in select CMSD buildings.
