Dr. Heidi Gorovitz Robertson, C|M|LAW's Steven W. Percy Distinguished Professor of Law, Professor of Environmental Studies at the Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs, and Libra Foundation Visiting Professor at the University of Maine School of Law has published a book chapter, "Local Jurisdictions and Variations in State Law in the Marcellus Shale Region,” in When Fracking Comes to Town: Governance, Planning, and Economic Impacts of the US Shale Boom

The book traces the response of local communities to the shale gas revolution and shows how they have adapted their local rules and regulations to meet the novel challenges accompanying unconventional gas extraction through fracking. The multidisciplinary perspectives of the volume's essays tie together insights from planners, legal scholars, political scientists, and economists to tell a story of community resilience with the rise and decline of shale gas production.
