Levin College Graduate Programs Win National Honors

U.S. News & World Report today released the latest results of its national rankings for graduate studies in U.S. colleges and universities. More than 270 graduate programs in the U.S. were included in the broad category of "Public Affairs.”

With its focus on urban affairs, the Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs's five masters degrees fit into two of the nine speciality fields that comprise the broader category: "City Management & Urban Policy,” and "Nonprofit Management.”

Levin was ranked #7 in the nation in the field of "City Management and Urban Policy,” and was the only program in Ohio to be recognized in this field.  It was also ranked #17 in the field of "Nonprofit Management,” sharing that rank with Ohio State, which was the only other Ohio-based graduate program recognized in that field.

The College's strengths in these two fields combined to give CSU an overall ranking of #45 in the U.S. in the broad category of "Public Affairs.” This overall ranking ties CSU with 10 other universities, including the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Illinois at Chicago, Georgia Tech, Northern Illinois, and Brandeis.

"We are very proud to be recognized by our peers across the country,” said Bob Gleeson, who serves this year as the college's interim dean. "Although we are smaller than many other programs, our relentless focus on engaged research about improving the quality of life in Cleveland and northeast Ohio allows us to produce work that is relevant to cities and urban areas across the nation and around the world. Our high-quality graduate programs provide one more example of how local Cleveland institutions are achieving global recognition for excellence.”
