Levin College is honored to celebrate Brooke Brockman as the Fall 2024 Valedictorian. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education, Brooke has exemplified academic excellence, leadership, and a profound commitment to creating inclusive learning environments.

Brooke’s journey at Cleveland State University has been defined by her dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. During her student teaching placements across six Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) schools, she gained invaluable experience working with students of diverse abilities and backgrounds. These experiences not only strengthened her teaching skills but also fueled her passion for equity in education, preparing her to build classrooms where every student can thrive.

Reflecting on her time at CSU, Brooke shared, “During my four years in Cleveland, I have developed a deep appreciation for the opportunities the city offers and the exceptional work CSU does in connecting us with inner-city schools. Growing up in a suburban community within a large school district in Cincinnati, I didn’t have the same family connections that I’ve formed here in the CMSD schools. Being part of this vibrant community has allowed me to make a meaningful difference in the lives of families as a Cleveland State student. This immersion in the diverse opportunities that a large metropolitan city offers was a significant factor in my decision to choose CSU.”

Beyond her academic success, Brooke made her mark as a member of CSU’s women’s soccer team. Her college years came with significant challenges, including multiple injuries that required extensive recovery. Despite these setbacks, she remained steadfast in her commitment to academics, athletics, and service, demonstrating resilience and an indomitable spirit that inspired those around her.

Brooke’s dedication to serving others extended far beyond the classroom. She volunteered with initiatives like Adopt a Family, America Scores, and the Special Olympics, embodying her commitment to inclusion and community engagement. As an Assistant Accessible Media Specialist in CSU’s Office of Disabilities, she contributed to creating accessible learning materials for students with vision and hearing impairments, further showcasing her passion for fostering equitable opportunities. Additionally, Brooke stepped into a long-term substitute teaching role for her mentor teacher, gaining hands-on experience and solidifying her readiness to lead her own classroom.

As Brooke embarks on the next chapter of her journey, Levin College celebrates her exceptional achievements and the positive impact she has made on her peers, students, and community.

Congratulations to Brooke Brockman, an inspiring leader and educator, on this well-deserved recognition!
