The American Planning Association Ohio Chapter has established the Norman Krumholz Equity Award, newly created in 2021 to recognize a person, policy, or community engagement process which exemplifies the professional ideals of Norman Krumholz. Krumholz served as a professor of Urban Planning at the Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs and is remembered as a widely respected urban planner and community development leader whose contributions to how we learn and teach neighborhood-building, community development, and city revitalization will impact future generations for many years to come.

The first honorees of the new Norman Krumholz Equity Award were City Architecture for its Woodhill Choice Neighborhood Transformation Plan, and Mayor Annette Blackwell of the City of Maple Heights.
