About the Center

Founded in 2008, the Criminology Research Center in the Department of Criminology and Sociology is an applied, community-based, and interdisciplinary Center that provides research support to agencies working within or adjacent to the criminal justice and social services system through a variety of services, including:

  • Program evaluation and evaluative research
  • Survey development and administration
  • Qualitative and quantitative data management and analysis
  • Technical assistance and training
  • Dissemination of research

The Center's research faculty, staff, and students have a diverse range of experiences and expertise in translating research into practice. Our areas of expertise include gender-based violence, criminal justice, policing, prosecution, gun violence, forensic intelligence, program evaluation, and evaluative research. 

Center faculty are nationally-recognized scholars that disseminate academically rigorous research to the public through scholarly publications, project reports, and academic, practitioner, and community presentations.
