Department of Criminology and Sociology
Our Department of Criminology and Sociology applies an interdisciplinary approach to major social issues, contributing to societal transformation, facilitating greater well-being, enhancing public safety, and maximizing our impact in our community and beyond.
Our faculty and curriculum equip students with the analytical and critical thinking skills necessary to work in a wide variety of career settings, including government agencies, nonprofit organizations, social and community service organizations, and health services.
Students study a wide variety of topics including social inequality, criminology, gender, race, ethnicity, and law, while developing research skills and the ability to understand and connect individual lives with wider social forces.

Our Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs is recognized as one of the best public affairs schools in the nation by US News & World Report. The School is ranked 4th in the US in the specialty of Urban Policy and 12th in the specialty of Local Government Management.
The School offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional development programs in fields that guide and advance vibrant and sustainable communities, including urban studies, public administration, urban planning, environmental studies, nonprofit management, and organizational leadership.

Our School of Communication is a dynamic community of students, faculty, and staff that exemplify the traditional university missions of teaching, research, and service, while engaging with the community.
Our faculty bring real-world expertise to the classroom, deepening our students understanding of theory and best practices reflective of the field of communication today, while providing real-life application of skills through hands-on learning opportunities. We infuse experiential learning throughout our classroom teaching, placing emphasis on current and emerging digital trends to prepare students with the skills necessary to succeed in fast-growing career fields.
Students in our School of Communication are equipped with a foundation in strategic communications and digital communications practices.
