Each Program Coordinator will focus on concentrated inspection areas in their neighborhood that are prioritized by their CDC Executive Director, HHI Manager, and Councilperson. Main roles and responsibilities include:
  • Working with the HHI Manager, CDC team, and Councilmember to determine which areas of neighborhood have the most need.
  • Identifying external and internal housing issues.
  • Building trust, providing technical assistance, and developing a plan of action with the resident to address housing and quality of life issues. Connecting residents with resources available through the City of Cleveland, local nonprofits, and organizations.
  • Collecting, inputting, and tracking field data.
  • Administering the City’s paint program in the field with support from the CES Manager,
  • Delivering classes and forums for homeowners and landlords on at least a quarterly basis in coordination with HHI Manager.
  • Develop outreach materials and distribution strategies to ensure regular communication with stakeholders.
  • Maintains a filing and tracking system covering disseminated information, referrals, requests, complaints and completed improvements to the property.

Position: Community Engagement and Equity Fellow

The Community Engagement and Equity Fellow contributes to neighborhood quality of life by implementing authentic community engagement methods that address social inequities. The Fellow will be responsible for working with resident-based committees on initiatives focused on air quality, violence prevention, and equitable access to green space and the waterfront. Position: Principal Planner/Senior Planner

Position: Fair Housing Testers
Company/Organization: Fair Housing Center for Rights & Research

The Fair Housing Center for Rights & Research, a fair housing agency, is currently recruiting members of the public to work as testers to help detect and investigate housing discrimination throughout Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties.

Fair housing testers typically pretend to be looking for an apartment or buying a house. They may call and/or go in person to meet with a housing provider and tour the available residence. They then fill out a detailed report documenting the interaction. For decades, fair housing programs around the country have used testers to investigate housing discrimination.

Position: Client Advocate

The Client Advocate is responsible for assisting with fair housing complaint investigation, enforcement, and advocacy activities. The Client Advocate works in a team with other advocates, under the supervision of the Director of Client Advocacy.  

Duties:

  • Conducting intake of complaints, inquiries, and other communications from the public
  • Educating and counseling individuals on fair housing remedies and procedures
  • Developing strategies to assist individuals in addressing their fair housing needs and concerns
  • Identifying appropriate external resources to assist individuals and providing referrals as needed
  • Maintaining detailed and accurate contemporaneous electronic and physical records of contact with individuals including actions taken and services provided
