The  Scholars for Conservation Leadership Program is a career and leadership development program designed to expand opportunities for students to pursue careers in natural resource management and conservation. The program emphasizes an equitable and community-centered approach to conservation.

This professional development program offers a range of opportunities for rising college seniors to:

  • Learn about career tracks and career development directly from practitioners who represent a wide spectrum of professional roles and institutions in this sector.
  • Pair with mentors from the land conservation community who can offer advice and assistance to students as they navigate the Scholars Program and beyond.
  • Participate in Rally: The National Land Conservation Conference, the largest gathering of conservation practitioners in the country, including workshops, seminars, trainings and networking events.
  • Build community with a cohort of other students from across the country interested in exploring a career in this sector.
  • Qualify to apply for a paid, year-long fellowship (post-graduation) with a land conservation organization to gain on-the-job experience at a critical time in their academic and early career.

Position: Housing Court Specialist

Under the supervision of the Chief Housing Court Specialist, the Housing Court Specialist will be trained to assist constituents with landlord-tenant-related issues. Housing Specialists are Ohio Supreme Court-trained and certified court mediators who assist in third-party/neutral conflict resolution. In addition, the Housing Court Specialist will be trained as a certified community control officer for the Court’s criminal docket and will be expected to manage an assigned caseload meant to ensure individuals comply with court orders regarding property maintenance, state, and local laws regarding properties owned in the City of Cleveland and Bratenahl.

Position: Zoning Planner

Under general supervision, prepares planning studies, development analyses, data analyses, market studies, and maps. Reviews the design and layout of development projects including the conformance with zoning, design, and planning standards. Represents the Planning Commission in public meetings and presentations. Depending upon the nature of the job performed, may do the following: Prepares GIS maps and associated data, GIS programming, and GIS web-based design and programming in the context of city planning OR Analyzes and prepares streetscape, transportation, and infrastructure plans; Conceptually designs streetscape improvements OR Reviews architectural and site plans; Conceptually designs building and sites for city planning purposes. Performs related duties as required.
