Cleveland State University's Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs now serves as the official Certified Public Manager® (CPM) program for the state of Ohio

Offered through the Center for Public & Nonprofit Management at Levin, CPM is a comprehensive and nationally certified development program for state and local government leaders. To receive this credential, participants must enroll in and successfully complete the Public Management Academy and Leadership Academy.

Participants in the redeveloped, one-year Public Management Academy will engage in 19 customized workshops and a capstone project, learning to understand budgeting procedures, interpret data, utilize process improvement tools, manage grants and more. This program is geared toward managers who are seeking to sharpen their supervisory and management skills.

The Leadership Academy's 12 all-day sessions focus on a wide range of topics such as leadership styles, change management, generations in the workplace, power and persuasion, knowledge transfer, data management, crisis communications and more. Established in 1993, the Leadership Academy continues to help elected officials, public and nonprofit administrators and other regional leaders advance professionally.

The Center for Public & Nonprofit Management's academies not only develop leadership and management skills, but also provide individuals with the necessary tools to affect positive organizational change.

Enrollment for the Public Management Academy is now open.
