About the Program

The Robert Noyce Scholarship aims to attract students to the field of teaching in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through the CSUteach program. CSUteach allows undergraduate mathematics and science majors the opportunity to earn a degree + teaching licensure in four years. For post baccalaureate students, they do not earn a degree but they are able to earn a teaching license within four semesters. The Robert Noyce Scholarships are awarded to qualified students participating in CSUteach.

  • As a Noyce Scholar you will become a part of a national professional support community, receiving career support and continual guidance.
  • There are about 250 programs funded by Noyce nationwide
  • Each year, one scholar will be selected to attend the annual conference at no cost

About the Scholarship

The Robert Noyce Scholarship awards five undergraduates (with junior or senior status) or post baccalaureates $20,000 scholarships ($5,000 each semester for four semesters) each year.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the program in 2014-2015:

Undergraduate Students must:

  1. Be eligible to enroll or be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at CSU with junior or senior status
  2. Be majoring in a field of science, technology, engineering or mathematics (i.e., STEM majors).
  3. Commit to teaching in Biology and Earth Science, Biology and Chemistry, Chemistry and Physics, Physics and Biology, and Mathematics or a combination of these areas.
  4. Have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  5. Interview with the steering committee.
  6. Scholarship support may be awarded for up to two years of full-time study, at the end of which time the applicant must have completed the CSUteach Program and enter the classroom teaching in a high needs school district. Awardees must also complete an academic major in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics.

Post Baccalaureate Students must:

  1. Be eligible to enroll in a post baccalaureate degree program.
  2. Hold a degree in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics discipline.
  3. Commit to teaching in Biology and Earth Science, Biology and Chemistry, Chemistry and Physics, Physics and Biology, and Mathematics or a combination of these areas.
  4. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 from your undergraduate degree.
  5. Interview with the steering committee.
  6. Scholarship support may be awarded for up to two years of full-time study, at the end of which time the applicant must have completed the CSUteach Program and enter the classroom teaching in a high needs school district.
