We are pleased to invite you to a presentation of the Capstone Planning Studio project, part of the Master of Urban Planning and Development (MUPD) Program at Cleveland State University’s Levin College of Public Affairs and Education.
This semester the students are working with the Cleveland City Planning Commission and the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) to explore transit-oriented development opportunities for the RTA Waterfront Line. Despite some limited success after its construction in 1996, today the rail line is only in service for Cleveland Browns home games and special events such as the recent solar eclipse weekend. We believe that with synergistic planning, there is a significant opportunity for the Waterfront Line to increase public access to the Cuyahoga River and Lake Erie, and become an integral piece of waterfront redevelopment. The students' proposals are grounded in meaningful public engagement, market analysis, and reverence for the Cleveland waterfront's historical legacy. Their work aligns with and reinforces the City's efforts to make downtown and its waterfronts more accessible, equitable, and resilient.
The presentation will begin shortly after 4pm and will be followed by a Q&A session and some light refreshments. We hope you can join us! The students look forward to sharing their work and hearing your feedback.
To help in our event planning, please fill out this registration form by Friday, April 26th (if possible) if you plan to attend.
