Position: Summer Intern (May - June, 2023)
Company/Organization: Coventry Township Zoning Office
 
As an intern in the Coventry Township Zoning Office, you will assist the Zoning Inspector with ensuring properties comply with the Zoning Resolution in order that Coventry Township may maintain its' lake yet rural character. As an intern, no two days are the same! Typically, you will drive around the Township to inspect new homes, building additions – like fences, pools and patios, and new developments; you will follow up on zoning code violations and educate our residents and business owners on the zoning code and its’ importance to the community; you will receive zoning permit applications and review for compliance with the Coventry Township Zoning Resolution; you will perform general office duties. To thrive in this role, you must have a high attention to detail, a great driving record, communicate in a professional and friendly manner, and be able to understand and interpret regulations to identify violations - such as signage, trash, and weeds. Coventry Township is a team environment and everyone is expected to help with all facets of the office environment, including answering phones and speaking with visitors to the office. The internship schedule is 3 days a week, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday with some flexibility and will be paid $11.00 hourly. Minimum requirements include a valid state of Ohio Drivers’ License and some experience or education in planning, development or code compliance. Position: Site Strategies Intern

Site Strategies Intern, in coordination with JobsOhio and community partners, understands, and sells the competitiveness of NEO for business investment, resulting in job creation and an increase in capital investment monies. Key duties include management of the site selection process and database. Intern will develop a deep understanding of competitive available sites and buildings in the region. In addition, the coordinator supports the site programs of Team NEO.

Kenmore Neighborhood Alliance works to revitalize the Kenmore neighborhood in Akron, OH, starting with its economic, cultural and relational core, the Kenmore Boulevard Historic District. As KNA’s summer associate, you will engage residents and organizations in the community through and by recruiting volunteers and creating a system of volunteer management for district events and cleanups. You will also help to promoting district businesses through new informational kiosks and music-centric street festivals called Kenmore First Fridays.

Position: Burton Bell Carr Resident Engagement Summer Associate

Buckeye is one of nine neighborhoods nationwide chosen by 5/3 Bank to implement its Empowering Black Futures Program. The goal of this program is to ensure that these neighborhoods receive capital, expertise, and tools to create equitable growth and economic mobility through its Empowering Black Futures program. This includes a $2 million grant for vacant home rehabilitation to sale to low-income families and home repairs for low-income households. In Cleveland, these efforts are led by Cleveland Neighborhood Progress as the grantee, BBC as the engagement partner and grassroots connector, and CHN Housing Partners as the facilitator of home repairs.

Position: Burton Bell Carr Food Access Summer Associate

The Food Access Summer Associate will support BBC’s Supportive Services team in the following efforts: identifying programs that eliminate food security, promote programs that eliminate food insecurity, promote programs and resources that encourage healthy food consumption, identify and eliminate barriers to healthy food access, such as applying for SNAP, WIC., Produce Perks and other food access programs. The Food Access Summer Associate will conduct market research on ideal conditions for attracting a quality grocery store(s) to BBC’s neighborhoods currently experiencing food apartheid. BBC currently owns a retail center with vacant grocery store space. This information will build BBC’s capacity lease space to a new grocer.

Position: Economic Development Research Ananlyst Internship (Unpaid)
Company/Organization: City of Beachwood
 
This internship position will undertake a variety of assignments and projects in support of the City’s Economic Development initiatives. Excellent organizational skills and simultaneous multi-project coordination skills are necessary, and a good understanding of conducting research, gathering data and initially analyzing data. Reporting to the Economic Development Director and others as assigned within the office, the intern will be responsible for working effectively both independently as well as in team type meetings.
