Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs UST 490/690 Internship Intent Form

STOP! Only Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs students intending to enroll in UST 490/690 should use this form. UST 490/690 is an academic class that includes an internship. Priority deadlines for each semester are:

  • Spring internship: October 1st
  • Summer internship: March 1st
  • Fall internship: June 1st

Step one: Complete and submit the form below. A copy of the form will be sent to you and the Public Affairs Internship Coordinator, located within the Levin College's Public Affairs Student Services Center. Submission of this Intent Form notifies us of your plan to complete an internship in a particular semester. 

Students are responsible for submitting application materials, responding to internship site contacts, and scheduling interviews with potential internship sites.

Step two: You will be contacted by the Internship Coordinator with an overview of the internship process and resources available from CSU Career Development & Exploration for internship search and preparation.

Step three: If you do not have a resume or have never prepared a cover letter, we recommend an appointment with CSU Career Development & Exploration. This is a free service available to all students. Please schedule a resume review appointment via Handshake. 

Step four: After finalizing your resume, review existing internship opportunities. Students should consider location and transportation when applying for internships. Our Internship Postings page and Handshake are great starting points!  

Step five: Once an internship is secured, complete the Learning Contract and Student Agreement, and submit these via email to

Step six: Once the Learning Contract has been approved, you will receive permission to register for the academic course (UST 490/ UST 690). The credit hours and section number of UST 490 are based upon the number of contact hours your internship includes.

  • 1 credit is equivalent to 35 contact hours.
  • The minimum number of contact hours is 105, equivalent to 3 credits.
  • The maximum number of contact hours is 280, equivalent to 8 credits.
  • Students should consult their Academic Advisor when considering the number of credit hours.

Once permission is entered, students register for the course via CampusNet.  

Step seven: Once you are officially enrolled in the class and the semester has begun, access the course material in Blackboard for more detailed information about requirements.

Note: Only Levin College students are considered for internships.
