Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs UST490/690 Internship Application

STOP! Only Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs students intending to enroll in UST 490/690 should proceed. UST 490/690 is an academic class that includes an internship.

Step one: Complete and submit the form below. A copy of the form will be sent to you and the Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs Internship Office, located within the Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs Center for Public and Nonprofit Management.

Step two: You will be contacted by a representative from the Levin College Internship Office to set up an appointment with a Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs Internship Coach to discuss the internship preparation process.

Step three: At your appointment, you will meet with a Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs Internship Coach to review existing internship opportunities, the preparation of your resume and cover letters for available positions. Students may also seek internship opportunities independently and discuss with the Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs Internship Coach to make sure the internship meets the Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs requirements. If students do not have a resume or have never prepared a cover letter, we recommend an appointment with the Office of Career Development & Exploration. This is a free service available to all students. Please schedule a resume review appointment with the Office of Career Development & Exploration via Handshake.

Step four: After finalizing your resume, students will meet again with their Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs Internship Coach to identify internship opportunities to apply for and start the application process. Students are responsible for submitting application materials, responding to internship site contacts, and scheduling interviews with the internship site.

Step five: Once the internship is secured, you will complete the Learning Contract and Student Agreement.

Step six: Once the Learning Contract has been approved, you will register for the academic course (UST 490/ UST 690). The section number of UST 490 is based upon the number of contact hours your internship includes. 1 credit is equal to 35 contact hours. The minimum number of contact hours is 105 hours, equal to 3 credits. The maximum number of contact hours is 280 hours, equal to 8 credits.

Step seven: Once the student is officially enrolled in the class, you will have access to the course Blackboard for more detailed information about course requirements.
