Former CPL America Reads Tutor and May 2022 CSU Graduate.

Julianna tutored youth for 76.3 hours during the Spring 2022 semester at the Garden Valley and South branches of the Cleveland Public Library. Julianna graduated from CSU with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and a minor in Political Science.

What made you want to work as a CPL America Reads Tutor?

My brother, Daniel O'Donnell, used to be a tutor in this program when he went to Cleveland State and always loved it. I thought it would be great to meet students from all different walks of life and help them with homework or any studying they needed to do. I love getting to help other people learn.

Were you involved in any clubs at CSU?

I was the President of the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law chapter, an international fraternity here at CSU. I also played on the women's club volleyball team, but due to COVID-19, I could no longer participate.

Any thoughts on why students should get involved with programs, like CPL America Reads, while they are students?

I wish I would have known about this program when I first enrolled here at Cleveland State because I think it is an awesome program! I think participating in programs that CSU offers can help build your confidence level, your resume, and yourself as a person. You get to meet all different types of people and learn new things that add to your experience for when you graduate.

"Getting to connect with the community by meeting staff members, new friends in fellow CSU students, and the amazing kids I got to tutor made this job my favorite experience during my last academic year at CSU". Julianna is now a Law Clerk at The Wides Legal Group, LLC in Akron, Ohio.
