Meet Reem Abumeri

Reem is a third-year student, double majoring in History and Social Studies at CSU. She is a tutor at the Glenville Branch of the Cleveland Public Library.

Why did you choose to attend Cleveland State University?
I chose CSU because it was the best option financially and it was a familiar university to my family. My dad was an international student when he was 18 years old. One of my brothers recently graduated 2 years ago from CSU. I'm happy to say CSU has given me several opportunities, and I LOVE that it allows me to have an excuse to explore downtown everyday!

What made you want to work as a CPL America Reads Tutor?
I accidentally heard about the America Reads program while going to buy some snacks. One of my older brothers, Malek, worked for the program in the past, he really enjoyed it. I am studying to be a teacher, so it is the perfect experience before becoming one.

Are you involved in anything else at CSU?
Yes! I plan events on campus as the Diversity Chair for the Campus Activities Board (CAB)!
