Early Childhood (P–5) Education Program

Prepare to Teach. Ready to Lead.
At Cleveland State University, the Early Childhood (P–5) Education Program prepares future educators to support the learning and development of children from birth through grade 5. Whether you're beginning your teaching journey or changing careers, our undergraduate and graduate pathways provide the tools, knowledge, and hands-on experience needed to thrive in early learning environments.
Graduates earn a bachelor’s or master’s degree and an Ohio P–5 teaching license—ready to lead classrooms, partner with families, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of young children.
Why Choose CSU’s P–5 Program?
- Real-World Experience, Early and Often
Students complete more than 700 hours of clinical training, working in classrooms and early childhood settings across Northeast Ohio. - Strong Community and District Partnerships
CSU has deep, long-standing relationships with educational partners—and hosts three public schools on our own campus, giving students daily, real-time access to vibrant classrooms and mentor teachers. - Whole-Child, Inclusive Approach
Learn to support the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of all learners, including children from a wide range of cultural, language, and ability backgrounds. - Interdisciplinary, Student-Focused Learning
Faculty from education, psychology, and related fields collaborate to train well-rounded, reflective educators committed to improving early learning in the community. - Licensure + Degree Pathways
Earn your undergraduate or graduate degree while completing the requirements for Ohio’s P–5 teaching license.
