Broadcasting Minor

Communication Students
NEW: Broadcasting Minor - Coming Fall of 2025 to The School of Communication! Your Pathway to a Career in Media and Communication

Overview

Broadcasting focuses on the creation, production and distribution of content to a wide audience. It stands at the intersection of creativity, technology, and storytelling by engaging audiences across diverse platforms. Traditionally, distribution was through television and radio, while today there are also many digital distribution strategies. The School of Communication’s Broadcasting Minor prepares students with the skills and experiences needed to thrive in this dynamic field.

A foundational aspect of our minor is a partnership with Classic Teleproductions, an Emmy Award winning industry leader in broadcast and media production, where we produce a program called Cleveland Conversations. Students will work with both faculty and the skilled engineers from Classic. This minor may be of particular interest to those interested in broadcast journalism, public relations, marketing, sports administration, communication, or anyone else seeking to develop their skills in this area.

Whether your passion lies in front of the camera, behind the scenes, or crafting compelling content, this program equips you with practical expertise and real-world experience for a successful career in media and communication.
