Meet CPL America Reads Tutor, Cally Hardwick

“Since I have started tutoring, I have realized I do play a significant role in the student’s lives’ beyond their homework.”

Cally is a Senior at CSU pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Business!

What do you think you have gained from being a CPL America Reads tutor with the OCE?

Every day that I get to tutor brings me new opportunities to help younger students reach their potential. I love being able to discover different methods of teaching that helps students understand the subjects that once gave them a hard time.

Why should other students consider getting involved with these programs while they are attending CSU?

Getting involved is the best way to meet new people and get out into the community! Community programs are so beneficial for many people! Keeping them thriving and active is the most rewarding feeling. A few students I tutored have even considered attending Cleveland State when they are older because of me, which makes me feel proud to be part of a school that is so involved in the community.

What has tutoring at the West Park CPL Branch taught you about the Cleveland community?

Working out in the community has instilled hope in me. I get to meet new people every day from different backgrounds and it lets me know that libraries are still as important as ever.
