Meet CPL America Reads Tutor, Emily Morales

Emily is the President of student organization, Latinos Unidos and is a Film and Media Arts Major at CSU!

In this job, I am learning how much education is so vital for kids as they grow in their school careers and eventually life. I am also learning more about my community that I never knew before. The branch I work at is down the street from where I live, so I am always learning about a new community resource or meeting kids in the same area as me. My heart is full with getting to know the area that I work in, but also live in. I feel that I play into the mentor role with the kids I tutor. With the littlest kids, they love playing Uno, reading, and coloring after homework and I am there as a friend when they need it. With some of my older kids, they come to me seeking advice. I try to give them the knowledge and guidance I have in hopes of guiding them in the right direction because I want nothing but for them to succeed. Tutoring in the CPL America Reads program, you gain such great insights in the community and in life as a whole.
