The Industry & Partner Engagement Intern will be charged with tasks related to stewarding relationships with a network of local hospitality industry businesses to advance the strategic priorities of the organization while prioritizing racial equity and inclusion. This role, primarily within the Destination Management division and Destination Engagement sub-department, will touch many interdepartmental projects and initiatives. Success is measured by, but not limited to, perceptions of and engagement with the organization by the hospitality industry.

The entire destination management functional area seeks to continually advance Cleveland as a destination city by serving as:

  • community catalyst, actively listening to the community & customers and working to cause or accelerate actions and collaborations that advance Cleveland as a destination city;
  • collaborative designer, utilizing consumer & community insights to shape destination assets into brand-aligned experiences for residents and guests;
  • community orchestrator, inspiring diverse and often disconnected individuals, and organizations to work together to advance Cleveland as a destination city; and
  • destination champion, consistently standing together with visitors to Cleveland, the industry that serves them and the community that hosts them to champion Cleveland as a destination city.

Position: Cleveland Talent Alliance Internship - Spring 2026

Destination Cleveland leads a local collaborative of fourteen regional non-profits focused on growing the population, known as the Cleveland Talent Alliance (CTA). The CTA intern, employed by Destination Cleveland, will assist the CTA director with ongoing efforts, including the Resident Ambassador program that connects potential relocators with locals, college student retention programs that aim to keep students here post-graduation, and CTA-stakeholder communication strategies to ensure the collaboration moves forward with open dialogue.

Responsibilities: 

  • Research potential grant opportunities aligned with CAL’s mission and programs
  • Assist in compiling and formatting support materials for grant applications and reports
  • Help maintain a grants calendar, tracking deadlines, submission dates, and reporting requirements
  • Prepare drafts of standard documents such as organization descriptions, program overviews, and funding narratives
  • Review past proposals and reports to identify reusable content and improvement areas

Donor & Funder Research:

Assist in identifying and researching individual donors, foundations, and corporate funders to support strategic cultivation efforts. Ideal for a detail-oriented student interested in philanthropy, research, and donor relations.

Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct background research on individual, corporate, and foundation donors
  • Compile profiles on potential funders, including giving history, interests, and affiliations
  • Support preparation of briefing materials for development meetings and donor outreach
  • Help track donor interactions and research findings in Salesforce CRM

Responsibilities: 

  • Capture high-quality photos at venues where CAL programming takes place—including CAL sites like our office and Studio 105, as well as partner locations such as schools, recreation centers, places of worship, libraries, and more. This also includes CAL-hosted events.
  • Upload and organize photos in SharePoint by program and media release status
  • Maintain folders of usable content for communications and fundraising use
  • Track and sort files based on media release permissions

SEO & Website Strategy: 

Help improve CAL’s online visibility through beginner-friendly SEO strategies and basic website content updates. This position is ideal for a college student interested in digital marketing, content writing, or web strategy who wants to gain practical skills in how organizations grow their digital presence.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct keyword research to align with CAL’s mission, programs, and audiences
  • Update page titles, meta descriptions, and on-page text to reflect SEO best practices
  • Assist in auditing the website for outdated content, broken links, and content gaps
  • Help organize and plan content updates based on user needs and search trends
  • Track basic performance data using tools like Squarespace and Google analytics platforms (training provided)

Tiktok Content & Strategy:

Bring CAL’s TikTok to life by creating engaging, youth-centered video content that highlights our programs and impact. This internship is perfect for someone who enjoys TikTok, has a creative eye, and is eager to learn how to use social media strategically to tell stories and support a nonprofit mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Help develop and shape a TikTok strategy that reflects CAL’s voice and values
  • Create short-form videos that showcase our programs, youth participants, and community impact
  • Assist with planning and scheduling content for TikTok and other platforms (like Instagram Reels or Stories)
  • Monitor content performance and suggest creative ways to improve engagement
