Ohio Magazine continuously seeks editorial interns to assist with the digital and print sides of our magazine. We are looking for students who are seeking experience in reporting and writing stories as well as contributing to our social media channels.

Ideal candidates are entering their junior or senior year and are journalism or English majors; recent grads are welcome to apply. We invite editorial department interns three times a year to apply for consideration.

• For winter/spring time period: Deadline is Nov. 28, 2025.
• For summer time period: Deadline is April 6, 2026.
• For fall time period: Deadline is July 6, 2026.

This is an unpaid internship conducted remotely. Scheduling and hours are flexible. This internship is similar to training which would be given in an educational environment during an academic calendar.

Position: Web Design Intern
Company/Organization: Avanti Content Co.

We are looking for a Web Design Intern who is excited to gain hands-on experience building websites. You’ll work directly with the founder of Avanti Content Co., as well as design and development partners, to gain exposure to real client projects and the inner workings of a growing marketing business.

This role is for students with a passion for design, a positive attitude, and a growth mindset. You’ll gain practical experience planning and designing websites with usability, accessibility, and brand storytelling in mind.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in designing website layouts, wireframes, sitemaps, and mockups
• Build and edit pages in WordPress and other CMS platforms
• Use best practices for ADA accessibility and responsive design
• Optimize websites for SEO, speed, and usability
• Create and update digital assets (graphics, icons, templates, etc.)
• Learn how websites fit into larger branding and marketing initiatives
• Learn project management skills for managing a web project from end to end
• Learn how to find new business opportunities and secure web design contracts
• Gain exposure to industries such as technology, manufacturing, and professional services through real-world design projects

Position: Content Marketing Intern

We are looking for a Content Marketing Intern who is an excellent writer and excited to gain hands-on experience in B2B marketing. You’ll work directly with the founder of Avanti Content Co., gaining exposure to real client projects and the inner workings of a growing marketing business.

This role is for students with strong writing skills, a positive attitude, and a growth mindset. You’ll learn about branding, SEO, content strategy, and the tools that enable success, such as SEMrush, Wordpress, and Google Analytics.

What You’ll Do

• Write content for websites, blogs, case studies, whitepapers, and collateral
• Learn and apply SEO best practices, including keyword research using tools such as SEMrush
• Leverage and edit AI-generated content, and train GPTs for marketing use cases
• Repurpose content for different mediums
• Occasionally conduct interviews with project stakeholders or subject matter experts
• Create media lists for pitching articles to trade publications
• Use WordPress to publish and optimize web content
• Learn how to be a project manager by planning marketing initiatives from end to end
• Learn the business side of running a communications studio, including prospecting, client management, and brand building
• Explore industries such as technology, manufacturing, and professional services through real projects

Position: Community Engagement & Education Specialist Intern
Company/Organization: Canton Symphony Orchestra

• Assists with implementation and creation of educational and community programs.
• Will work with the Director of Education and Community Engagement to execute programming for the 2025-2026 season, plan for the 2026-2027 season and create new ideas for the education and community engagement department.
• Primarily remote internship with possibility for in-person experience and some in-person requirements. Ideal for students. 5-15 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
