Final Year Orientation

Fall 2026 Intern Orientation 

August 20, 2026: 10am-4pm 

Mandatory Intern Orientation (Location TBD) will be held from 10:00am - 4:00pm: This orientation includes all Interns. This orientation will cover policies, procedures, and expectations.  

Child Abuse Recognition Training (Location TBD) will be held from 2pm-4pm. If you have not taken Child Abuse Recognition Training in the past 3 years, you must complete the training at Orientation from 2-4pm.  *Please note: if you do not attend Child Abuse training, you will have to complete it at your own cost.   

Parking: If you do not have a parking pass, you can find parking options on the CSU Parking and Transportation Services website.

Materials: We recommend bringing a laptop, writing utensil, paper, and a water bottle

**If you are unable to attend Intern Orientation, please contact OFS as soon as possible.  You are not able to go into the field until you complete orientation.  

Schedule: 

9:45 – 10:00am: Registration

10:00am – 12:30pm: Welcome, Getting Started in the Field, Policies, Procedures, Expectations, Break Out with CSU Field Supervisors

12:30-1:45pm: Break for Lunch

2:00-4:00pm: Mandatory Child Abuse Recognition Training (BH 202).  If you have not taken Child Abuse Recognition Training in the past 3 years, you must complete the training. If you do not attend the training, you will have to complete it at your own cost.  Proof of training must be provided.

Preparing for Fall 2026: 

• Please contact your mentor teacher by e-mail to discuss plans for your start in the classroom. The semester begins on August 24, 2026. If you choose to start early with your mentor, please remember you must attend the August 20th Intern Orientation.
• Interns will be in the field from August 24, 2026, through December 4, 2026.  You are welcome to start in the field early if 1) you have an approved Pre-Service Teacher permit through the State of Ohio and 2) you made arrangements with your Mentor Teacher.  Please inform your mentor teacher that you must attend orientation on August 20, 2026. 
• For a guideline on weekly responsibilities, please review the Week at a Glance documents for a general overview of the semester.
• Anthology: Platform for uploading all Field assignment.  The link will live in the OFS Blackboard Shell. More information will be given at orientation.
• Print the Attendance Form and keep it in your classroom.
• Review the Student Handbook
• Review OAE Requirements and Supports
• Review CSU Substitute Policy
• CSU ID: If you currently do not have a CSU ID, please contact the VIKING CARD OFFICE.  You must have a CSU ID for your Field Placement and to access the Computer Lab (printer available) in Julka Hall (Room 116).
